Thank you for helping make conferences run so smoothly. I feel that the dialogue and exchange of information is always so very helpful when not only selecting appropriate curriculum materials but often, and more importantly, varying effective learning styles and working with the children’s personalities. I hope, too, that I was able to provide valuable insights into your child’s school day.
As we have been learning, the Thanksgiving story began with the Pilgrims' voyage on the Mayflower. Did you know that there were 102 Pilgrims sailing for two months and three days on this small overcrowded ship? There were even two dogs and a cat! Each family was allowed to bring with them only one trunk of possessions. Here is an oral language activity you may want to try at home. Imagine your family is setting sail on the Mayflower in the year 1620. What belongings would your family choose to take? Why? What if it were the year 2020? How different might your list be? Bon Voyage!
After talking about the first Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims’ lifestyle, I hope the students derived a sense of what life in the 1620's was like and the genuine feeling of working and sharing together! We are sending home a Thanksgiving keepsake card for your family. Be sure to put it in your treasure box!
I am thankful for my wonderful pandas and their families!
Enjoy the holiday…your families and friends.
Make sure to count your blessings!
Happy Thanksgiving
